We just got home from St. Vincent's. Whew. Long day. First we went to the orthopedic surgeon to have mom's staples removed. Her leg has healed quite nicely. Then we went and ate lunch and came back and met with the oncologist. He gave her Zometa intravenously to strengthen her bones. She will have that administered once a month. Then she was sent to see a radiologist. She will have her first radiation treatment on Tuesday. She will have ten or fifteen treatments. We will be traveling to the University of Arkansas in the next four to six weeks to talk to some people about chemo and stem cell treatment. We are not sure exactly what she is going to chose to do (my dad and I want her to do what she feels comfortable with) and right now we are just evaluating all options. She can have treatments at UAB, but right now the Arkansas thing seems more promising. Please continue to pray for my family and the decisions that we are facing. I will continue to update as we find out more.
She has home health nurses that come several times a week to check her blood levels for the blood clot/blood thinner, as well as a physical therapist. She is walking around the house on her walker, yay! She will only have to use the walker about three more weeks. After her leg heals completely and she finishes radiation, she will feel much better and be ready for the next steps of treatment! Praise God!
